Jasline Lim Founder and Director M. Education (Early Childhood and Special Needs) Dip. Montessori Method of Education B.Bus (Applied Economics)Jasline has been an early childhood educator for more than 10 years. She has conducted phonics and early literacy enrichment programmes for preschoolers, involved in designing and developing preschool curriculum for enrichment centres and taught in a Montessori preschool. She has also operated an infant and childcare centre. Jasline’s encounter with children with special needs started when she was with NTU’s Welfare Services Club. She was actively involved in the club’s various projects including children and youths with intellectual disabilities and hearing impairment. Jasline left the financial sector for a full-time job in the social service sector in 2003, involved in programmes and services planning for the disability sector. Her passion for helping children and youths with special needs was since ignited.Throughout the years of working with children and youths and listening to parents of children with special needs, Jasline started Kidspace with a simple objective – to make quality programmes and services accessible to children with special learning needs. She hopes to use her experience and expertise to enhance the learning experience of these children and to help educational institutions become better equipped in handling them.
Desiree Ong Desiree has been in the special education field since 1984. She was an educator with a special education school, holding the posts of teacher, Senior Assistant and ICT Subject Head. She has more than 20 years of experience working with and teaching children and youths with various special needs. To further equip herself to help children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Desiree underwent a specialised course and obtained the Certificate in Education Studies (ASD) by SSTI and University of Sydney in 2004. Desiree is proficient in the use of specialised education technology and programmes to enhance the learning of students with special needs. She is passionate about developing programmes that are developmentally appropriate and stimulating for children with various learning styles. Over the years, Desiree has helped and groomed children and youths to develop self-confidence and greater independence. Working with these children and youths has given Desiree great joy and satisfaction and she aspires to continue this work at Kidspace.
Raman Subhamangalam Subha is extremely passionate towards using stories, books and other reading resources to make her lessons come alive! She currently runs the Social Communication and Language programme and the specialised language support programmes at Kidspace. She engages the children very well with interesting social stories and dramatisation of print stories. Many children have benefited greatly and became much more responsive from the programme.
Poornima Kalyanimath (Nima) Specialist Teacher Nima’s training and qualification as a dental surgeon has provided her with valuable experience working with children in the healthcare and community settings. With a keen interest in working with children with special needs, she went on to do a Diploma in Learning Disorders Management and Child Psychology. Nima has close to 10 years of teaching experience, conducting individual and small group early intervention, learning and developmental support programmes. Nima also has experience working as a Shadow Teacher supporting children with ASD, ADHD, Global Developmental Delay in school settings. Teacher Nima runs the Early Start Better Help (ESBH) and learning support programmes at Kidspace and conducts Phonics and Reading Remediation programmes in MOE Primary Schools. She engages the children very well with interesting and interactive visuals, tactile materials in her lessons. Many children have benefited greatly in terms of their learning, communication and social behaviour under the coaching and guidance of Teacher Nima.
Jun Affectionately known as Teacher Jun, Jose has more than 10 years of experience working with children with various disabilities and learning difficulties. He brings with him a wealth of experience from a variety of clinical, community and educational settings. Jose enjoys helping children to develop functional sensory and motor functions that enhances their ability to play, learn and interact with others and the environment. At Kidspace, Jose works with the children to enhance their gross and fine motor skills, visual-motor integration, handwriting, and sensory processing skills. Jose is much loved by the children for his fun-loving and friendly nature. He believes in working closely with the children’s families and caregivers and is committed to collaborating with the other specialists as a team.
Tan Lee Waun Lee Waun graduated from National Taiwan Normal University, majoring in Special Education. She brings with her valuable experience working in the education and special needs sector in Taiwan and Singapore. Students she has worked with include those with ASD, ADD, GDD, Dyslexia, learning and speech delays and intellectual disability. Lee Waun is proficient in the use of various intervention methods in her Mandarin lessons such as Behaviour Modification, Applied Behaviour Analysis and TEACCH. She works mainly with pre-schoolers and those in Primary School level. Her lessons are conducted in Mandarin, apart from the Chinese Language, she incorporates social skills, eye-hand coordination training and sensory integration.
Carol Pung Carol is a performing musician as well as a qualified music teacher well versed in early childhood pedagogy. She has over 20 years of music teaching experience. Other than her music qualifications, Carol also holds a Diploma in Special Education and is completing her Specialist Diploma in Psychology, Early Childhood. She is very passionate about her work with children with various special needs and learning difficulties, and always aims to use music and the arts to help these children enhance their motor, cognitive, and sensory processing skills. Many children warm up to Carol easily given her approachable and bubbly nature. Her lessons are creative and full of energy. |
